Houmous

A delicious and healthy snack, our houmous is made with the freshest and tastiest ingredients including, Soaked and Cooked Chickpeas, Sesame Seed Paste (Tahini), Oven Roasted Garlic, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Freshly Squeezed Pure Lemon Juice. 

 

Our houmous varieties include Traditional, Lemon & Coriander and Black Olive.

Yoghurt

Spicy Yoghurt Chutney and Creamy Harissa make up our selection of tasty yoghurt cheese dips.

Yoghurt cheese provides a creamy smooth cheese that is low in calories, sodium, lactose, and cholesterol.  Normally made in summer months, it’s a versatile and healthy substitute for mayonnaise, cream cheese and cottage cheese and is suitable for vegetarians.

 

Serving Suggestions

Serve any of our products with kettle chips, warm pitta bread or ciabatta, crudités or barbecued meats and vegetables.  Our snacks are a healthy and  popular favourite amongst the young and old alike!

 

Pot weights are 300g. If you are having a party or catering for an event we are happy to make larger portions for you.

Where can I buy Hogs Back Foods?

Our dips are available from our stall at Ripley Farmers' Market on second Saturday of every month (9.00am - 1.00pm). Location of the Market is Ripley Village Green, just south of junction 10 M25, 1st exit A3 Guildford - B2215.

 

If you're in the area why not drop to try and buy the freshest food you've ever tasted, meet the producers who grow or make the food and find seasonal specialties to take home.

 

Hogs Back Foods sell direct to the public at Farmer's Markets in Surrey and Hampshire.

Our products are very popular with our customers and sometimes we run out of stock on busy days despite our best endeavours! If you live locally in the Farnham area and you're coming to the market, you may wish to pre-order by email or telephone. We'll make up your order and keep it aside ready for you to collect!

Hogs Back Foods is a small cottage business founded by Mark & Amanda Russell. We’ve started our business from home and with hard work and determination we're slowly succeeded in getting local people really interested in our range of tasty dips. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of customers, friends and family for their continued support.

 

Initially, we’re focusing on Mediterranean recipes. We’re fervent advocates of healthy eating and are interested in why people who eat Mediterranean diets avoid many of the health issues that we in the West seem to suffer. The diet is more a collection of eating habits and leans heavily on plant proteins for nourishment. It's considered a low fat yet high energy diet. And that’s what we want our dips to be!

 

Using the best quality raw ingredients and strictly adhering to food safety legislation, we makes our products in small batches a few days before each market. This allows the finished article to reach you in optimum condition with a reasonable shelf life for a fresh product made without artificial preservatives. From an allergy advice perspective, please note that our houmous products contain sesame seeds.

 

Wherever possible, we source our  ingredients from local producers and farm shops. Like you, we recognise the benefits of getting closer to the sources of local quality foods.

 

We are members of The National Federation of Market Traders and Surrey Food Links, organisations which will help us to grow and connect with local business and consumer markets.
